The week of September 16-22, 2002, the holy relics, a fully intact body of Blessed Bishop and Martyr Vasyl Velychkovsky, C.Ss.R. were transferred from All Saints Cemetery near Winnipeg to St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church.  For a full account of the week's events of the enshrinement refer to the article "A Week to Remember" in the Newsletter Fully Alive issue 1.

On September 16, chosen faithful gathered with Metropolitan Michael Bzdel to begin the process of exhumation. Eye-witnesses confirmed that indeed Blessed Vasyl was buried in this gravesite.

The digging began with much anticipation.
Upon removal from the grave, the metal casket seemed to be in good condition. Within minutes and hours it began to completely fall apart.
At St. Boniface Catholic Hospital his holy body was examined by a medical team of doctors. All were in awe to find his body fully intact after 29 years in the grave. After being cleaned and examined, he was revested in new episcopal vestments.
At per protocol from the Vatican, Blessed Vasyl's newly vested body was placed in a stainless steel sarcophagus.
Redemptorists carried his holy relics into Sts. Volodymyr & Olha Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral where a three day vigil was held from September 20th  to 22nd.
On Saturday evening, September 21st, while the shrine chapel and the museum were being blessed, the rain clouds opened up and a brilliant rainbow appeared over the church. This was seen as a sign of God's blessings upon the whole event.
On Sunday morning, after a Moleben Service, the sarcophagus was carried out of the Cathedral and placed on a decorated wagon to begin the 3.5 kilometer pilgrimage procession to St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church.
The procession was led by a processional cross, church banners and icons carried by youth.
Redemptorists from across North America and many other clergy participated in the pilgrimage procession.
Several thousand of the laity also prayerfully walked, saying the rosary and singing the Acathist Hymn.
In St. Joseph's a Pontifical Divine Liturgy was celebrated. Faithful from across Manitoba and beyond filled the church, the church auditorium and several tents outside.
The holy relics were venerated by the clergy and the faithful.
Bishops from across the world had come to partake in this historical celebration of the enshrinement.
After the Divine Liturgy the holy relics were placed in the shrine chapel.
The shrine chapel - the permanent resting place for the Relics of Blessed Bishop and Martyr Vasyl Velychkovsky.
A new headstone has been placed at the original gravesite. Pilgrims can come and pray at this holy place.
