June 27th has been proclaimed by the late Pope John Paul II as the feast day for the the Ukrainian Catholic Martyrs under the title of Blessed Nicholas Charnetsky & 24 Companions. Blessed Vasyl Velychkovsky belongs to this group of martyrs and therefore his feast day is celebrated on this day. Annually there are pilgrimage celebration at the Shrine in St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg.
