MUSEUM TOUR
The museum depicts Blessed Vasyl’s life story in several forms. A short nine minute video can be seen. This video outlines the major events of his life and of his suffering for Christ. A similar video is available in the gift shop. The walls of the museum present various themes of his life.
One panel outlines his life journey chronologically and with the aid of a map.
Another panel tells his life story as a missionary, a bishop and as a Confessor/Martyr.
A third panel tells the story of the exhumation, recognition and enshrinement of his holy relics from All-Saints Cemetery to St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.
One panel is dedicated to the four Ukrainian Redemptorist Martyrs who were beatified by Pope John Paul II together with Blessed Vasyl, that is, Blessed Bishop Nicholas Charnetsky, C.Ss.R., Blessed Ivan Ziatyk, C.Ss.R. and Blessed Zenon Kowalyk, C.Ss.R.
The museum also contains many second class relics of Blessed Vasyl, clothing, vestments, and artifacts used by Blessed Vasyl.
The centre case displays his episcopal vestments, miter, prayer book, etc.
One drawer is filled with artifacts from his coffin: his habit, hand cross, parts of the vestments, etc.
Another drawer contains artifacts obtained from those who knew him in Ukraine.
These are things he used during the time of persecution in the underground church, chalices, vestments, documents, etc.
One of the objects of great interest was documents found in an ‘archeological dig’ on May 2004. For more information press here.
Within the museum there is a beautiful donor wall honoring the generosity of donors to the shrine/museum.
